Pastors Sam and Naomi Funk oversee the Worship ministry.

At Gateway Christian Fellowship, worship is a top priority at every one of our corporate gatherings. God designed each one of us to be worshipers and has knitted worship into the fabric of our beings. If we don’t worship God, we’ll worship something or someone else. Most of us understand this concept, for it was very likely that misdirected worship has caused us pain or disappointment in our past.

We begin with worship in order to prepare ourselves for what God wants to speak into our hearts. We have found that when we worship, He reminds us that He never loses sight of us and that His great love and faithfulness will surround us even when we have fallen short of His glory.

Worship is the act of freely giving oneself to God. It is an expression of our love, gratitude, thankfulness, awe, respect and submission to Him. We lift Him up and exalt Him because He is God - holy, righteous and perfect in all His ways! He is the Creator of all that is and He is worthy of our praise and worship. He is also the One who has redeemed us from the pit of our past. He has offered us new life and the hope of a new beginning.

Worship is a means of communicating with God and allowing Him to communicate with us. Through singing and praying, we come into His presence and express what is in our hearts and souls. Sometimes we joyfully celebrate and praise Him for what He is doing in our lives; other times we cry out to Him to do something in our lives! Worship is also a time of meditating and reflecting on our relationship with the Lord and with others. He may call to our mind some area of disharmony or failure that we need to confess so that we can receive forgiveness.

It is our hope and prayer that as you join us here at Gateway you will encounter God, you will be drawn into His presence and, if you’re not already, you will become a worshiper of Him. If you have an interest in becoming part of the worship team please feel free to contact Pastors Sam or Naomi to discuss requirements and opportunities.

We think you might enjoy the video below by Kim Walker that expresses our heart. It is titled A Lifestyle of Worship. Click anywhere in the image to watch it.
